The Civil Service Commission ensures that police officers and firefighters are hired based on merit and disciplined/terminated for cause. The City is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies with terms ending December 31, 2029 and December 31, 2031.
The Commission meets the second Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. at Kirkland City Hall. To qualify, you must be a registered voter in King County, have lived in Kirkland for two years prior to appointment, and be at least 18 years of age. Women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals and veterans are encouraged to apply.
